OUR HISTORY
Our agency was founded in 1935 by Dan Carpenter, a successful, realtor, farmer and insurance agent. His prior insurance experience was in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was a leading producer with the Prudential Life Insurance Company. The agency was first known as “Dan Carpenter Insurance.”
In 1950, Dan’s son Milton joined him in the agency and the name was changed to “Dan Carpenter & Son Insurance." Subsequent to this, Dan’s wife Ruth and his daughter Dorothea were enlisted to assist, as the agency grew in its service to the Glades communities. In 1965, Milton and his wife Nancy started the Milton Carpenter Insurance, Inc. agency with its offices in Belle Glade.
Milton Carpenter was president of Milton Carpenter Insurance, Inc. for nearly 60 years. Milton also served two years as the State Representative for the Pawtucket Mutual Insurance Company of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, with responsibilities for the states of Florida and Georgia
Peggy Carpenter-Brady, President/CEO and Commercial Accounts Specialist, is our third generation in the family business. Peggy has nearly 30 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry. Following in her father's footsteps, Peggy opened another location in 2012, in Okeechobee.
Our agency is the oldest and finest independent insurance agency in western Palm Beach County. Located 45 miles west of Palm Beach and about three miles from the shore of Lake Okeechobee, this is one of the largest and richest farming areas in the State, and accounts for a large proportion of the economy of the county (the largest county east of the Mississippi). In 2012 we opened our second office in Okeechobee, which helps to service our central Florida and Treasure Coast clients.
Dedicated to the highest level of professional service to our customers, Carpenter Insurance has been a long-time active members of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents and the Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA) of the State of Florida. Milton was a board member of the PIA for several years.
